An jedem Sonntag
In Germany, all sports fade into insignificance compared to football. Week after week, thousands of fans visit stadiums allover the vast country with millions of others glued to their televisions. Football is a phenomenon that connects people from all walks of life. It is the German folk opera, their religion.
In the shadow of the big arenas, where the superstars shine and earn their millions, are smaller clubs where the stakes are just as high for those engrossed within them. From winning the German championship to defeating a neighbouring village, it’s all the same to them. Even in the smallest villages, bereft of local amenities, exist football clubs, feeding the local appetite for 90 minutes each week. It is their universe and in that moment everything else seems light years away.
