Helmut – 66 years old, serious offender, in prison for almost 45 years. Since 1978 he spent a mere 18 months outside prison. His adult life can be summarized in a few words: prison-frustration-release-escape-drugs-deliquency-arrest-punishment-repeat. Since 2014 I supported him as a prison volunteer. In 2017 he escaped shortly before his release was due. A story about friendship, expectations and disappointment.
